Our Philosophy
The youth of today are the adults of tomorrow. In order to be wise enough and strong enough, they need the guidance and support today. Education reform begins in the minds of the children and in the classrooms it depends on for performance.

The curriculum teaches values and pro social behaviors. It also supports the development of constructive and cooperateive attitudes that are prerequisites for success in our society.

Educators degreed to teach science, math, reading, and history (core disciplines) are at an extremely alarming rate overwhelmed in the classrooms with psychological confrontation. It is time that education does not just include the imparting of knowledge such as the core disciplines, but be combined with Self -Awareness curricula, this dual curriculum application will address fear, anxiety and overall emotional and physical balance of our nation’s youth. The child rebels against those who herd them through processes of education or toward pro social behavior (inconsiderate of their environments and experiences outside of the classroom). Cooperative partnerships (Teacher/Student) occur when educational environments include practical conversation around real life circumstance, and students are empowered daily with non-disposable tools of focus and Self-Determination. The focused and Self-Aware child breaks the chains of dysfunctional family, community, nation and world cultures, rather than to mindlessly file in as the generations before them.
The purpose of The Way of Life (TWOL) Passages is to stimulate conscious thought, action, to create safe places to express them, to stimulate and to support action driven children. TWOL curriculum initiates a process of mindful thought and action in Passage participants. Future partners not only in the classroom, but also in the family and community will emerge. Our position as a nation depends on today’s children for heightened levels of innovation in the areas of science, energy, education, economics, government and the development of new world systems.
The school environment is where the demand on the child for performance is greatest. Youth educators have constant daily interaction and have the child’s undivided attention for as much as eight hours per day, the classroom is the most probable place for change of thought and action in the family and community.
We must regain the faith of the child to reverse the downward spiral of youth destabilizing before our eyes. Empower those who feel hopeless and not in control of their worlds. We must restore them to a state where the child is excited to enter learning processes as they were in the third grade. The Way of Life Passage curriculum has been designed with many of life’s experiences in mind. Each Passage offers an opportunity to explore thought processes, life experience and the lives we build. Teachers, as well as students, will be challenged to participate in self awareness conversations and activities with the curriculum design. The bond and trust between teacher and student will reignite the classroom. The student feeling supported and empowered by a teacher that understands his experience will mindfully commit to the partnership required in the learning process. Then and only then is it possible to achieve success in the core disciplines.
We must include words of power in the children’s everyday environment; arm them for psychological self-defense in a war they often experience alone. The Way of Life Passage curriculum represents a vehicle for psychological empowerment to attain Self-identity, purpose and direction, serving not only the children but also the Passage deliverers.

I think this would help me/my students in the classroom. I believe these tools are key for people in general.

What I get out of the Passage is that I learn a lot. Also I learn not to do drugs, none of that bad stuff. Another thing is that we learn great stuff. My mom is really amazed from the stuff I come home and tell her. I like learning the focus work every Wednesday and I hope to learn it next year. I am lucky to have learned all of the things that I did.
